Hello everyone,
Ok so we arent that good at updating on time...but hey better late than never. Since the last post we left lovely Seville for the sunny Algarve. Even though we have our rail pass we had to catch a bus because there are just no trains that cross the border. It was quite cheap and besides that we didnt want to have to do the back to madrid then on to lisbon route first.
Albufeira is awesome! The whole algarve region is just one massive english zone with pubs offering yorkshire puddings and english breakfasts and everyone speaking english. Whilst many would find this a turn off...to us it was heaven as people finally understood us. Plus the beaches are soooo beautiful and weather so good...whats not to love. Plus the portugese are so friendly not that the spanish werent. But we did notice how nice and helpful everyone was.
We checked into our hotel (which we got for a bargain on trusty lastminute.com) and decided to check out the town. Desperate to go swimming (or at least i was) we decided to go to The Big One (now stupidly called aqualand) which is a water park like wet n wild on the gold coast. It took us ages because there is practically no public transport on sundays on the algarve and its pretty s***e on a week day we later established so we had to ask this posh hotel to get us the courtesy bus tickets. It was a bit awkward when he asked for our room number but he didnt mind. The waterpark though...my god was it fun. As good as i remember from when i went as a kid. Even ben mr i dont like swimming had the best time. There was this ride that on a 45° angle and u drop down in 4 seconds. And it was a sharp 45°. We both nearly crapped our pants at the top omg and ben haha bless him kept saying "i cant do this omg i cant do this." Haha but he loved it...
We stayed there until it closed and then came back to hotel and ,ade use of the ENGLISH speaking tv. Even the hotels with tvs in spain didnt have english channels. We think we kinda caught up with world news but if anyone wants to give us a proper update that would be great.
Today we just had a look around the algarve area...caught a bus to lagoa where we took a taxi to Rocha Brava near Caveiro which is a massive resort I used to go to as a kid. The stupid reception lady told us that we couldnt go to the pool cos we werent staying there (we had to ask her because we had our big packs) but we finally convinced her to watch her stuff if we only took a few minnutes for some photos. A short swim later haha we were back to her with wet hair hehe. Rochq Brava is sooooo nice...totally remembered it. Think we shall go there again ahen we can afford it. We then kept going to Lagos where we spent time in Praia de Luz (looked for madeleine but no luck) and the beach there is just amazing. According to ben there was seaweed but i couldnt find it. Nicest beach ever.
Our next stop is Lisboa so shall post more from there later.
Hope everyone is well...hit us back with some goss. Sis did u get the bday card from us yet? HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
