Hello again,
Nice to see everyone has taken soo much interest in emailing us. EMAIL US DAMN YOU!!!!
Since we last left a message all we have done is swim. Later that evening we played some pool at the guest house and poor ben managed to lose twice to this cambodian guy. SO sad....but apparently he wasnt playing fairly haha.
Yesterday we decided to invade the grand Sofitel's swimming pool haha. It was soooooooooooooooo nice. Swam ALL day yesterday and had drinks at the pool bar. Seriously heaven. Comfiest sunlounges i have ever sat on....beautiful pool. Was the greatest day ever hahahaha. After that we decided to check out Pub Street. Basically one street with pubs on it (suprise). We chose Temple Bar because it was recommended in the guide book and looked nice and busy. Plus there was a huge screen showing premier league (ben). Had a nice meal.....few cocktails and some more games of pool and we were set for the night.
Today we visited a landmine museum. That was the weirdest experience....the museum owner when he was a kid was forced to put the mines into the ground by the khmer rouge and now he has dedicated his life to getting rid of them. He not only disables hundreds each month but he houses victims of the landmines. It was horrible seeing his collection of shells and detonated mines....sooo many. It is scary to think that all of these could have killed people had he not taken them out of the ground. There were also stories about all of the kids that he houses....so sad. Was really interesting but horrible to learn how many casualties there are in cambodia each year....and compared to the rest of the world.
We then went to check out the old and central markets. Both were a bit dissapointing (probably because we had gotten used to the massive night market in thailand) but fi still managed to buy something.
Then we decided to live in luxury again....and we went back to the swimming pool hehe. It seriously is sooo nice there. Now we are here.....about to get some dinner and off to phnom penh tomorrow. After our last disaster of a bus ride we have gone all out and booked a COACH with a TOILET. Wooohooooo. Bright and early tomorrow morning.
Looking very much forward to Phnom Penh.....as lovely as Siem Reap is (and it seriously is awesome) we are ready for a change. One thing we have noticed is that tuk tuk drivers here...and the ride itself is sooo much nicer than in Thailand. They dont hassle you as much, dont quite drive as much like animals....and you dont feel like you may die when ur in one.
Will be sad to see our room go though....soooo big and nice and comfy. Cant believe it only cost us $3.00 each per night. GREAT BARGAIN.
Well will write again in Phnom Penh.
Lots of love Fi and Ben xoxoxo
