Blimey! It's the 1st of June already! Where does the time go? The last week has absolutely flown by and it has been an absolute pleasure to stay with our lovely cousins Andrea and Heather. They have been SO kind for putting up with us for a whole week at their new house and we definitely want to repay the favour when they come and visit us in England! We will miss them lots when we leave for Brisbane. We have had some great meals (no super noodles, real vegetables!) and laughs with them during the week. It has also been great to catch up again with cousin Keith, Yvonne, their lovely children Sam and Brodie and their equally lovely parents 'Uncle' Eric and 'Aunty' Jo. Keith has been a fantastic help with the car and we have appreciated his advice throughout our travels. It was also great during the week when we got to catch up with Kerry's cousins Lynne, Diane & John, Jodi, Josh, Daniel & Monique and their gorgeous little 2 month old son Ethan who is Kerry's new 3rd cousin!! Last but no means least is Auntie Barbara, Kerry's Dad's sister, who is a really lovely lady and who Kerry wished she could spend more time with as she is full of funny family stories and wonderful memories. She has a wicked sense of humour too! Unfortunately we couldn't see all the family, as we couldn't leave the house due to waiting for my passport to be delivered!
Besides all the socialising we have spent the week getting the car cleaned inside and out, which took a long time considering that it was covered in red dirt from the desert in the outback and the seats were filthy from us living in it for the past 5 months. We listed it on a few free-ad websites, which didn't get much interest and then yesterday we parked it on the main road with some signs in the window and received a call within a couple of hours from a guy asking if he could come and look at it. 20 mins later he came and had a look and bought it there and then for $3,500! Not a bad return on the $4,000 we paid 5 months and 20,000kms ago! We were chuffed that the car had sold so quickly as we were concerned that we might not be able to make our flight from Brisbane to New Zealand on time (don't panic Mum, Kris and Rob!).
We still had to worry about getting my passport back though, after I had stupidly left it in the post office in Darwin! Thankfully the gods answered our prayers and it was delivered in the nick of time in todays post, which means we are now flying back to Brisbane tomorrow night, then we will have a look around there for a few days before flying on to New Zealand on the 5th June! We've managed to book a hotel in Brisbane for a good price last-minute, which gives us a chance to properly explore the city as last time we were there it was raining, we were staying in a tent 10km outside the city centre and we were hunting for jobs with not much success.
Once we get back to Brisbane, in what will probably be our last update from Australia, we will upload all of our pictures from the Northern Territory and of our return into South Australia. There might also be a few from Queensland added that we didn't get to do last time we uploaded. To make things EASIER for you to view our photos on the blog we have separated all our photos from Australia into state categories, although all new pictures will be in a folder titled NEW PHOTOS. This should make things a LOT quicker for you and your computers will breathe a little sigh of relief when they don't have to load up 700 pictures each time!!
Lastly thank-you again to the people who have left messages on the message board, we really appreciate reading all your hellos and we look forward to updating you all again soon! Keep well, bye for now.
