I was going to file a blog from Lake Tekapo yesterday. But to be honest there are no words I could come up with that could match the images in yesterday's photo album.
Breathtaking, stunning or awesome just doesn't do it.
That was the view from our window. There was one moment yesterday when I wish I had the camera to hand. As you would imagine, the air around Lake Tekapo is probably about the purest and cleanest on earth.
We were just admiring the view when along came a Japanese bloke who walked past wearing a Swine Flu face mask!
This geezer probably comes from smog ridden Tokyo or Osaka. Surely he's done far more damage to himself working in a factory knocking out Hitachi tellys or whatever?
But no, he comes along to a New Zealand beauty spot and wears a mask….
Bet his granddad wasn't so cautious when he deliberately crashed his plane into Pearl Harbour in 1941!
Today we headed for Queenstown via Lake Wanaka. We called in at the Cardrona Hotel, one of the oldest and most photographed pubs in New Zealand. The pub has featured in many a TV beer commercial over the years.
The owners have worked hard to create to create a Victorian feel with a 1920s style post office next door and a 1928 vintage car outside. It really looks the part as you will see from the photo album.
Dozens of people were stopping to takes photos.
Then one knobhead goes and ruins the illusion by parking their 2009 BMW 750cc motorbike outside! I felt like going over and kicking it off its stand to serve the selfish git right!
From there we headed to a bridge where a few years ago, Kath's daughter lobbed herself off 134 feet into the fast flowing water below. Luckily she had a big fat elastic band attached to her ankles!
Arrived in Queenstown late afternoon. Went for a bite to eat and to watch New Zealand qualify for the football World Cup by beating Bahrain 1-0.
Naturally I cheered to home team who are perhaps not as skilled in their chosen sport as their more illustrious rugby playing counterparts.
In face I hope they're drawn in England's group!
Tomorrow: We conclude our trip to New Zealand with a flight over Milford Sound and a trip on a 1912 steamer the TSS Earnslaw for dinner at the Walter Peak Sheep Station.
Bet it's lamb on the menu!
