We left the boat on Wednesday in the sunshine and drove north up to Haines junction. We crossed the border into the Yukon and started up the Alaska highway. The scenery is stunning , lots of mountains and lakes. There are places to stop all the time and we keep pulling over to take photos and stretch our legs. We have been sleeping in large lay bays often with toilets and usually with fantastic views. The roads are very quiet and we see little traffic. Reaching Tok we turn south and head towards Anchorage. Again we have great weather and generally mild temperatures. We photograph moose and beaver and I spot a porcupine by the road.
Anchorage is big but just like any other city and after 1 night on an r v park where we catch up with the washing, we continue south towards Homer, right on the tip of the peninsula. We met a guy who lives there . He is an author and he gave us 1 of his books which he promises to sign when we meet him in Homer!!!!!!
All going well at the moment. We have got back into life on the road very easily and still enjoy being in Freddy. It is perfect for us and very cosy at night.
Yesterday we saw moose , elk, caribou, musk oxen and even brown bears ,it was all very exciting. The weather was sunny and mild, we are so lucky.
Things are more expensive here but not ruinous!!!!
Today is all glaciers and mountain streams and lakes , fascinating
