LEJOG 2010
Day 8 - Appleby-in-Westmorland to Ettrick complete. Fuelled not only by George's bacon and egg buttie but also the remainde of Elise's fantastic Victoria sponge we set off at a good pace. Unfortunately the going slowed pretty quickly as the long hills and headwinds got worse and worse. By 2pm we were at the Scottish border and celebrated with a team picnic in the layby by the Welcome to Scotland sign. The afternoon was a tough slog through mountains that I didn't even know existed with the only light relief being a short stop in the Tibetan Buddhist monk centre (?!?!?!) On arrival George and Ellie cooked up a story and reheated Mrs C beef bog-in- yon (George's attempt at saying bourginon).

Elaine Campbell Hope those English participants on the team had their passports at the ready and remembered to change their currency.Nice to see some REAL scenery beginning to appear.
Peter Hill Take it to the border! Great progress chaps, we're all very proud of your seemingly swift progress! Can't wait to congratulate you upon your return with a beer down t' 'showder' Stay safe on the roads, love Pete (and Liz who is also rocking out at the office today.)
