Hello all!
This is our first blog entry - and this is Fran writing this section. Well, it's our 2nd day in Lusaka, the capital of Zambia, and tomorrow we will be going to Rushyford farm in Choma, AKA the 'family farm'.
It's actually quite hard to write everything we've done in the last 2 days because I really don't know where to start - since arriving in Heathrow it's been a total whirlwind and I don't think I've adjusted yet! Well... first things first: when we got on the plane from Heathrow, we found out we weren't sat together :-( Jason was sandwiched between 2 stubborn people a row ahead of me, and I was also sandwiched between 2 people, the guy on my right who had the window seat was asleep LITERALLY the majority of the 9 1/2 journey (we were delayed for an hour or so) - awake only to chow down his food and then he was off again...
Then there was Nairobi... :-S haha, well... the departure lounge is TINY. One room AFTER duty free and the only exit is through the x-ray thingamy, and toilets on the other side, so once you're in you can't really go out again unless you leave all your stuff with someone or can be bothered to go through it all again... painstaking especially considering we have to spend 7 HOURS there on the way back to the UK!!!!!!!!!! Our flight to Lusaka however was much better as Jason and I were able to sit together, and slept pretty much the whole way...
Anyway, when we finally arrived in Lusaka after a 17 hour trip (not including the drive to Heathrow) Dorus had sent a friend of his through the gate to give us cash for visas (very very helpful as we were freaking out the whole trip about having to pay loads of cash that we didn't have the chance to get out before the flights) and we drove on...
I'm leaving it here now as I don't want to bore you with too much writing, but I shall explain the rest in the next blog ;-)
All my love and hugs to everyone back home,
Fran xxxx
