It was a day off, so rather than cycle into Toulouse I decided to take the metro. The nearest station was Ramonville, about 2.5km for the crow, but about 5km for me, because of the canal and motorway in the way. I probably walked somewhere that I shouldn't have, but I got there anyway. The metro line took a very weird twisting route to get into the city centre. Once there I enjoyed walking around, and spent some time in the Musee des Augustins (fine art) and the Basilique de Saint Sernin (see photos). After lunch I walked down to the river (Garonne) at the start of the Canal du Midi, admiring the old bridges (see photos), then crossed Le Pont Neuf (1632, so not so neuf) to the West side, which was significantly less attractive than the East. Eventually I got the metro back to Ramonville, walked back to the hotel then walked to the clutch of restaurants where I had eaten last night, this time choosing Tommy's Diner. There was a 50s/60s theme, with projected videos of Elvis and the Supremes. Never been a great fan of Elvis but I can see he was a master.
Quite a lot of walking today!
