Had a really busy first week! I got here on Friday 23rd January. Settled in really well, the other gappies at St. Mags, are Cat, Em, Rhi, Alex and Becca, altho becca doesn't live in the gappies house with us. Then there is Immie who works at Cathedral grammar down the road but spends most of her time with us.
Saturday we went to pick up Rhi from the airport, and then went to have a look around Christchurch. It's a beautiful city with lots going on. They are in the moddle of celebrating the "busking festival" at the moment, so lots of street acts going on!
We went to the cinema to see 'Australia' as well, with nicole kidman and hugh jackman which was really good, and also went to Denny's american dinner for dinner.
Tuesday we went for a nice meal out at Coyote's a mexican bar/restaurant which was really nice.
Thursday was the first day at school and in the morning we had the Powhiri which is the Maori welcoming into the school. the whole of the school stood in 2 lines and had to walk down in between them and into a chapel of 700 girls staring at us, embarrasing! but it was funny all the same!
Thursday night was the first big night out when all the girls had come back. We went for predrinks at Immie and Dave's flat (Dave being the other guy that works at cathedral grammar with Immie), and then went out to Shooters, and met the guys from Cathedral boys school there. Alex wilson (willow) from shrews school and Darren, and had a really good night out. Got back at about 3 in the morning, walking back, and had to be up at 7 for work. Let's put it this way, Friday was a tiring day!
Cat and I spent the entire of Friday in the maths department putting software on calculators and engraving them. 120 in total - FUN!
Saturday - today! Immie, Cat and I went to a picnic in Hagley park with Immie's school and then the others came around and we went into Christchurch. Had a green tea frappucino from Starbucks, they are just yummy! Tonight we are going to a comedy club, and then hitting Cafe bleu for drinks with the guys from the cricket club, its one of their birthdays or something!?
Tomorrow going to the cinema to watch 'Confessions of a shopoholic', cinema is really cheap out here!
Another thing that is..... petrol its like 35pence a litre, crazy!
Next weekend on Friday its waitangi day which means we have the day off, so we are hoping to go down to Queenstown to do the worlds highest bungee jump, i can't wait although pretty nervous!
Got to go continue with the sunbathing, but will keep you all updated!!
