Hello from down under!
Ive been so busy that i havent had time to do any blogging or be online at all... so here comes a whole lot of updates from down under.
The first thing that happend to me when i got to Sydney was that after i had checked in to my hostel i went for a sandwich at Subway, something i should never have done this because i got food poisoned and was reduced to pucking yellow and green for almost 3 days :S.
When that was done i took it easy for another cuple of days in Sydney hardly doin anything other than walking through the city, and after walking for about 4 hours for 3 days i can say i know my way around downtown Sydney :P
After this sick and relaxed session of Sydney i joined a 5 day surf camp with mojo surf. this was absolutely amazing. We had about 5 hours bus ride up to the first camp, we were about 25 new surfers and we had the camp to ourselves. The days went by with 1 or 2 surf sessions on 2 hours each day with 3 meals the we all shared together and evenings with cold beer around the campfire. We had 2 days at the first camp then we went to the next one where we had the remainder of the days, these were pretty much the same but with more ppl on the 2nd camp.
On the 3rd morning (by morning i mean 7am, we had breakfast at 6am and hit the water 7am) surfing we first had a pack of dolphins coming to play with us in the waves.. Really fun to see em up close like that only 5 meters from us. And if that wasnt enough wildlife for one day some humpback whales decided to play not more than a kilometer from the coast so we got a real good look at them jumping out of the water and splashing down again. Photos from the surf camp will be uploaded.
After the surf camp i headed straight back to sydney to meet my uncle Olan. We had some great days in Sydney beeing tourists and living in luxury. We saw most of the sights that is to see, the opera house the Sydney bridge and the zoo and aquarium. And we had some nice walks through the city.
Tanks again for some great days Olan!!
When we were done in Sydney i headed off to Cairns by bus. A ride that would take about 48 hours so i can say that ive seen most of the east coast of Australia, so im not doing it again. 2 nights on a bus seat really kills your neck, looking forward to a proper bed now. The bus ride itself was pretty uneventful with nothing special happening within or outside the bus. Outside it was just dry bush dry bush dry bush ooh cows :P. Then it went to be just bush then abit rainforest like just before we hit Cairns.
The only thing that happend inside the bus worth mentioning was that the aircondition broke down when the sun was on its worst of course. Thankfully the bus driver got it fixed fast so we survived.
When i got to Cairns i walked around abit until i found a hostel i liked (only had to be pointed in the right direction once :P). After a long needed shover and change of clothes, i went for a walk to check out the nearby dive shops. After a litle while i struck gold when i got to a dive center that had one spot left on a 7 day dive trip. They had gotten the cancelation this morning, and since the trip is leaving tomorrow i got a major discount about 1100 australian dollars (ca 5700 nok) and a better room than i would have gone for. So naturally i jumped on it and now im gonna be living on a boat for 7 days doing nothing than diving and living in abit of luxury (its a nice boat... or as some would say its not a boat its a yacht :P)
Crikey this was much and its gonna be much much more once i get the time for it. And photos is coming soon. (to a computer near you ;) )
Until then
Over and out
