Hi everyone from South Africa, Actually we left Cape Town last night and are just sailing past Port Elizabeth. Our arrival into Cape Town was delayed 30 hours because of wind. The entry to the port is only about 50 feet wider than the ship so it was too dangerous. Many people missed trips they had planned because of this. We barely made our plane to Port Elizabeth. We had 4 days of wonderful times with Ada, John and Joyce. Many of you met them when they were in the US. We went to Addo Elephant Park the first day and saw many elephants, zebras, kudu, dung beetles and a mongoose. We were so relaxed and often stopped for a beer and conversation. Later we went to Moreson, the colored township we worked in 15 years ago building a manse for their church. We were uncertain about what we might find, but we were welcomed with open arms. Several of the people we had worked with had died, but there sons were continuing with helping around the church. There were about 20 some youth preparing for a Valentine Ball at the church. They all looked very happy and the township had improved a lot. The young men took us to the homes to meet the ladies we had known when we worked there. They were very happy to see us, but not any happier than we were to see them again. The community had added several more buildings to the church complex. They all seemed to be well used. It was a very special day.Sunday we went to church with everyone and then walked along the harbor of Port Elizabeth. It was beautiful and the weather was nice. We went with Ada for the afternoon so we could have some time alone with her since we were staying with John and Joyce. Before we returned to Cape Town I was able to get my nails done. Sorry to mention that, but it becomes pretty important after six weeks and I wasn't sure I would fine any place. We had such a good time and it was hard to leave.
When we returned to Cape Town we went to see Norma, another friend, who is now in a care facility. She had a stroke several years ago and cannot walk now, but she seems very content and is now near her son and daughter-in-law.
Gary and I ended our stay in Cape Town with a lovely lunch and a little shopping. There is a top notch mall right on the port.
Now we are on the Mauritius, which we hear is a very high class resort kind of island. We will only be there one day.
We hope all of you are well and would like to hear if you are receiving these blogs.
Missing you all!
