Hi all,
Can you believe this is my last blog for this trip. It has been pretty un-eventful for the 11 days at sea. The seas have been calm. We reached Honolulu for refueling and were there for 8 or so hours but couldn't leave the ship. Something about authorization. So we sailed another night to Hilo. There is not much in Hilo so most people on the ship rented cars to drive 2 1/2 hours to Kona where the action is. Gary and I just wanted to stay around sleepy Hilo. We walked to town on Sunday and just relaxed. Most shops were closed because it was Sunday. We managed to stay until dinner, we just didn't want to come back to the ship. There were only a couple of restaurants open. We decided on Cafe Pesto because a lot of locals where there. We had a bottle of wine with dinner and it was the best evening we've had since we left. The next day we walked to a pancake house for a late breakfast. We needed a break from ship food. Then we went back into town to look in the shops. We managed to use up the time in order to have a late lunch back at Cafe Pesto. It was just as good as the night before. We got back to the ship, cleaned up and enjoyed our sailing away from Hilo.
Last night we had an Extended family dinner combined with our friend, Doreen's family. The kids enjoyed the break as they are all studying for finals. We had such a good time and no one wanted to leave. Tomorrow night we have the Alumni Masquerade Ball. It is a big grand finale where everyone dresses their best and wears masks. We also have a sit down dinner and the kids can have 2 [no more] drinks of wine or beer. It should be fun.
We are anxious to pack, but if we do the suitcases won't fit under the bed anymore. I guess we will wait till the 23rd and see what happens. We will see most of you very soon.
