Onboard our flight to Paris and my excitement is tainted by a sudden onset of both hunger and fatigue. Perhaps the red-eye was not such a great idea after all, considering I worked (almost!) a full day today. I'm feeling incredibly prepared though, more so than I have been for any other vacation I've been on, likely because this is the first time I've actually had to be responsible for some pre-trip planning! We have booked almost all of our hotel rooms, with a few nights left up to fate and chance, secured several reservations at some highly recommended restaurants, confirmed transportation between our destinations (planes, trains, AND automobiles), and outlined a fairly air-tight itinerary of sight-seeing, wandering, wine tours, and of course, relaxing!
This is the first time that the boyfriend and I will be spending 24/7 together for fourteen straight days. Our trip to Mexico was only one week, and consisted of entire days spent lazing on the beach with our butts firmly planted in sun loungers and a pretty consistent schedule of eating, tanning, and reading (we barely even spoke to eachother - that would have been too much work). This is not that kind of trip! We start out in Paris, where we will stay for 3 nights, then head south to Avignon and Aix-en-Provence. From there we go even further south to the Riviera: Saint-Tropez. Next is Vence, then the village of Eze before heading back to Paris. In between these spots, we'll be making day trips to Orange, Cannes, and Monaco with perhaps some unscheduled pitstops along the way. Needless to say, I am hopeful we both make it home without killing eachother, since the boyfriend can be rather particular and even, dare I say, difficult at the best of times. So of course I had a good chuckle at his expense when I learned that the French word for 'boyfriend' (thank you Google) is 'copain.' Co-PAIN. Awesome. So from here on in, he shall be referred to as the 'copain,' merely for the purposes of protecting his identity, of course.
We will be landing shortly at Charles de Gualle and I have about two hours of sleep under my belt. It's about 9am here and I can't say with certainty that I'll be able to make it through the day for all the coffee in France. But we have a full day planned and I'm not about to waste a moment.....onwards to our adventure!!
