Left Paris this morning and headed to Lyon. On the way we stopped in Beaune which is in the Burgundy wine region. We visited the Hotel Dieu which is a hospital that was established in 1488 and that treated patients until the 1950's ! We had nice lunch of 3 types of cheese & bread & a salad and of course a nice glass of red wine. We have no idea what kind of cheese we had as the waiter rattled the names off in rapid French!
Our evening in Lyon was a walking tour of the old city with a very funny local guide named Christian . There are many walkways called traboulers (not sure that is spelled correctly) that connect the old buildings from the 1700's that are now apts.
We then had dinner at Le Grand Cafe Lyonnaise. I had a salad with bacon & egg, the main course of roasted veal, potatoes Dauphanaise & fresh veg. For dessert Kay & I ordered 2 different things and shared. One was a chocolate cakes thing with Carmel ice cream & the other was 2 types of sorbet.
Picture is a patisserie in Beaune.
