Slept for about 9 hours, which wasn't bad. Sunny, warm day, almost warm enough for shorts, which I didn't pack. A lucky escape for the local kiwis...
Steve and I went on a road trip to visit the different places in Wellington where we used to live. Failed to spot our first house, in Stokes Valley, which is odd as I have fairly clear memories of that house. Then again, it was nearly 40 years ago.
Our house on Eastern Hutt Road was almost completely obscured from the road by a massive pineapple plant that mum and dad had planted and had been rather small when we left there.
The house in Kelson looked just the same, but a different colour. Stopped on Major Drive for a great photo looking out towards the harbour. Always was a wonderful view.
Drive through Lower Hutt town. Much the same as I remember, just different shops. Miss the huge Christmas candles by the library. Wonder when they stopped putting them up.
Back to Silverstream for lunch in a nice little unassuming restaurant called ***.. A really tasty chicken caesar salad for me, washed down with a pint of Tui, and eggs benedict for my brother.
Spent time in the afternoon playing on the Xbox with Steve and having a good laugh on Battlefield 3 and Split/Second.
Pizza in the evening from Hell, which was fab: haven't had pizza in ages.
Early to bed, as falling asleep by 9.30. Curious cats had to be shooed away.
