A good night's sleep in beds with no sand, and a very considerate couple (also keen on a night of uninterrupted sleep!) in the other 2 beds in our dorm, so even Foxy was looking perky when we got up this morning.
We'd hoped to make the most of free tea and toast for breakfast in the hostel kitchen this morning. Unfortunately, when we check out we discover that the kitchen is closed for cleaning, so we jump on the hostel's shuttle to Noosa Junction.
Having donated my Go travelcard to the sands of Fraser Island, I leave Foxy with our backpacks (it's hot already, and they're too heavy to lug even for 5 minutes if it can be avoided...) and walk to the nearest 7-eleven to buy a replacement. As a good hunter gatherer, I treat him to coffee and pain au chocolat on my return!
Next we bus and train it back to Brisbane (enjoying a literally motorwayside sandwich for lunch midway) to pick up our campervan. The Jucy people are all very laid-back, and we depart excitedly on the next chapter of our adventure!
We drive down the motorway to our airbnb (we didn't want to negotiate caravan parks on our first night, and we didn't want to drive too far from Brisbane on our first evening...) accidentally crossing a toll bridge (cheeky Brisbaners - how else are you supposed to get across the river?!).
As we drive, we head in to an epic rainstorm! Luckily, nobody else is keen to drive in that weather either, and the traffic slows right down. We escape to a Woolies for shelter and supplies.
At our Airbnb we have dins, watch the Doctor Who finale (!) and collapse. Still exhausted after our Fraser Island trip!
