First, we march on to the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. But first, coffee in their adjoining cafe, complete with ANZAC biscuits. ...and as we finish our coffee, we manage to catch the start of a free guided tour of the complex. How fortuitous! The tour is given by a volunteer, and she was absolutely superb. Hands down, the most knowledgable, friendly and interesting tour guide we've come across in Australia. On Katoomba's "cafe street". Unpromising from the outside but a sweet atmosphere inside. Lots of art on the walls and books to read. Although they weren't terribly welcoming, and did forget our order... The coffee itself to was too hot to begin with, had a brief drinkable period in the middle, but by the end tasted terrible, with an oddly cloying mouthfeel. The establishment of a hut on this site apparently dates back to 1905, and had a sign reading "Rest and Be Thankful". And thankful we were for a coffee after our walk around the Wentworth Falls! Well, we wanted to be thankful, but it was terrible. It was a bit hot to start with and it didn't improve once you could taste it. Better than this morning's effort, however. AB

Today we work up really late (what's new there, eh?) and caught the end of Stacey watching "I am Legend". Whilst half watching the film, we booked a place for our forthcoming jaunt to Canberra.
