Like a lemming preparing to fling itself into the unknown, the build up to this adventure is exhausting, exciting and unnerving (as well as a little assistive to the bowels).
I have ground my teeth to the point of fillings and Simon has dreamt of war ships and treachery. However, not wanting to dwell on the macabre, the build-up has also been scattered with incredible goings-on and at times the warm bosom of the people we love has been so extraordinary that leaving seemed almost daft!
There was the surprise hen party filled with lashings of gossip, wine and overindulgence. Actually quite a shock to find out I was really getting married. Simon agreed that the hen do was indeed the official stamp! Blessed am I with the women in my life; my rocks, anchors and sounding boards. They have been the gravity to my chaotic planet for so long. Forever grateful for the person they have made, the happiness they have for me and the efforts they have gone to make it known. And for the stretch limo obviously!
The leaving/engagement parties… there have been many; the first of these being a BBQ at our own little hidey hole - Ivy Cottage. Simon may not have known that it was an engagement party, but in my mind it was something I fully intended to associate with every gathering that followed! Well, you have to milk these things surely…?!
Mum and Dad have also showered us with champagne and jubilations on more than one occasion - probably more at the thought of having someone else to finally take on some of the burden of worry (and the calls from A and E). Marvellous garden affairs laden with basted meats and too much gin!
The grand finale - All and sundry came to our leaving party and what a marvellous feeling it is to scan a room and see all those that mean the world. Overwhelming and heart filling! Simon's brother Richard said words that melted Simon and me alongside. People danced. People drank jager bombs and of course Nobby took photos of his willy (always one). Most importantly it meant that Simon and I had a chance to say goodbye and to let our thinning hair down before the final days of panic packing and paperwork shuffling would ensue!

Cap'n J.S Hi Chums. I was just wondering, is it "For Everest", as in you're going to Mt. Everest.. Or "Forever Rest" as in you're going to be killed by warships and treachery?
