Penny's travels
Hello again,i\'m still trying to catch up so hopefully this postcard should bring you uptodate with what i\'ve done sofar i can then update weekly to keep you all informed on what i\'m upto.
So i think i left you in Kingscross just after New year i then met up with Shell who was over from the Uk for 3 weeks and we decided to travel up the East coast for a couple of weeks, but first things first i had to buy a car so we met up one morning (just after i moved to a slightly more upmarket backpackers in Sydney)and we went car hunting, initially with no success but later in the afternoon were infomed about a car market held in a carpark in Kingscross, there we found the perfect car a silver volvo at a price i could afford, we then had to go to the bank to get the cash but unfortunatly they were closed and the guys selling the car were leaving the next morning, as the cash machine would only give me a third of what i needed my wonderful friend Shell stepped in and fronted the rest of the cash until i could get to a bank to pay her back!
We then made plans to leave 2 days later heading for Byron Bay,we decided to stop half way in Forster a tiny place half way between Sydney and Byron had a good nights sleep (and some horrible fish and chips) and were up early the next day to continue our journey up the coast,so we jumped in Jessabell (my car, named this because she is a bit rough around the edges ,but goes forever!)and headed for Nimbin a hippy town 30mins inland from Byron and decided to stay here for the night which was highly amusing as we decided to camp which i thought was great Shell on the other hand was not so sure and after 1 night swore she would never camp again(sorry Shell).Next day back in the car to make the short journey to Byron where we planned to stay for a few days to relax, unfortunatley everywhere was fully booked and after the previous night Shell refused to camp again so she booked us into a motel for the night mmmm i have to confess it was good to have a decent bed to sleep in for the night(thanks again Shell) the following 3 nights we managed to get a cabin on a camp site which was great but at this point i had run out of money (a bit sooner than expected)so it was Shell treat until i could get some funds put into my bank.We did have a good time and decided to go out to dinner and spent the last of my money on a good meal but we did go a bit overboard having 3 desserts between the two of us(and i later found out Shell went back the next day for lunch and had another one, naughty naughty!!)they were delicious!
Back in jessibell a few days later and we were heading towards Airlie Beach deciding to stop at Agnes waters on the way to break up the journey (you don\'t realise how far apart everything is over here until you start driving). Wehad planned on spending only 1 night here but it was such a lovely place we stayed for 2 and decided to take some surfing lessons not the best idea i\'ve ever had ! lets just say that niether of us were naturals but never the less we had great fun trying.Ok thats it for now the next time i talk to you we will have arrived in Airlie which will pretty much bring you upto date bye for now xxxxxxxxxxxx
