Hello Hello funk rats!!!!
Stopped in at this place for an hour while our tour driver goes shopping for food for us so thought, instead of helping her we'd update our website again!!! he he .... So what have we been doing the last couple days, well we went on our lion walk in Zimbabwe (or Zim as we like to call it now, apparently!!!) it was amazing!!! Oh my goodness gracious me, I can't describe the rush, it was awesome, stupid, sureal and mind blowing all at the same time. So to run through the day, there were 5 of us from our tour group that wanted to cross the border from Zambia into Zim (he he) and do the lion walk, caught a bus at 6.30am, and drove to the border, had a couple other passengers on the bus with us that were total tools and I wanted to head butt, but more on that when we get home, arrived into Zim and were transferred to the lion park. Got a safety breifing which we were late for so we only caught the last half of it which included alot of scarey omnious sounding warnings on what to do if the lions went for you .. including not pulling away, as this will only encourage them to clamp down harder on you to try and hold on ... of course, if a lion bites - don't pull away!!! What the??? So anyway after more words of wisdom along these lines, we each were given a stick, about a metre long and we set off looking for lion cubs. There were 2, and they were only 7 months old, so they'd be nice and cute and small right ... NO!!! They were about knee high and about a metre long .. and their heads where bigger than mine, which was a bad ratio in my eyes! After the initial shock at how big these 'babies' were, we sat down and had some pats with them, then took them for a little walk to some trees where they happily posed for photo's for us, then we went to see their big brothers who were 17 months old, and up to our waist high and over 5 foot long ... and they were huge, their paws, were bigger than our hands stretched out and their heads were massive. We took lots of photo's and got a bit on video as well, was amazing. Took them for a walk and got to walk along holding their tails, although when I went to grab the tail he dropped to the ground for little lay down .. so the guide told me to squat behind him and cuddle him round the neck, which I kind of did from as far as I could get, but still reach - talk about a buzz!!!! After the walks, we went back to Zambia and did some quick shopping then went to dinner in town, half price cocktails for 2 hours ... lovely!
Today we said good-bye to Zambia, and headed across the border into our 3rd country in 2 days and entered Botswana .. were we've been briefed by our tour guide that occasionally we have to hide the meat and cheese on the truck as they don't like meat and cheese being moved around the country ... didn't realise cheese smuggling was part of the trip!!! Going on a cruise down the river in the Chobe national park this afternoon, then a big day driving tommorow to head into South Africa, and finally onto Kruger ... Fluke is getting quite exciting about it, and if we don't see any Rhino's, I think he may crack it ... been on lots of game drives now in the Northern parks and haven't seen one and have been advised Kruger is the place to see them and it's the only animal he's so keen to see .... keep your fingers crossed for us!
After Kruger, down to Jo'Burg, then down to Cape Town were it turns out 4 others from our tour are going as well, and we're all booked into the same place to stay .. so after spending 31 days together we're planning on spending our first free night, together again ... nuts!!!!
Couldn't believe the cats flogged port by so much, we found a tv here that was showing the game (amazing!!!) but literally as the ball was bounced, our truck was tooting for us to get on and leave (*?!$) ... wish nan a happy belated birthday, and can't believe Kasey is walking, can't wait to see that. Looking forward to coming home, a bit too much maybe - we've been starting to think about what our first meal will be when we get back ... the list is growing!!! he he. Less than 2 weeks to go now, crazy to think in 2 weeks we'll be back home in Maff town, can't wait to see everyone and catch-up .. we were at a bar yesterday and Nelly Furtardo came on ..., all I could think of was Kimma, and 10-10, 10-10!!!! he he. Anyway, signing out once again, will get photo's on here sometime soon hopefully.
Love to all, Spud and Fluke xxx
