After our trek we had 3 days to fill before we did our elephant conservation project.
Thursday: We went on a Thai cookery course at my request (Flora). Matt wasn't that keen but I persuaded him and he really enjoyed it! As did I! Our two chefs were very funny and very good. We made 8 dishes and got a cookery book to take away. The chefs had about 5 assistants preparing our ingredients for us and doing our washing up. The first 5 dishes we made we had for lunch (stuffed!) and the rest we put in take away boxes and had for dinner. A very good deal!! We made spring rolls, Thai Green Curry, fish cakes, soup, and some other stuff. That evening we checked out Thai boxing (Matt's request) and it was pretty good. The competitors were only teenagers and there was a lot more skill than just kicking the sh*t out of each other.
Friday: We had a rest day. We've been none stop for a while now. We had a full body oil massage in the afternoon - rather more intrusive than we expected, but still very relaxing! In the evening we met up with a girl from our trek and went shopping. I have purchased a tailored suit for work, which I am very excited about and am having my second fitting for this evening. We then went to Chiang Mai Night Bizarre and spent LOTS, but after some hefty haggling!
Saturday: Today we went downhill mountain biking. Honestly, we can't get enough of it (said whilst half asleep!!). It was a lot more challenging than we expected. Not a mere cycle in the woods! Our group was split into two - the hardcore ones and the ones who wanted to stay intact. Matt was the former and I was the latter! Saying that, my route was still extremely tiring. Every muscle was shaking by the end. Rough terrain was made worse by the heavy downpour we got half way through, that turned the dust to clay (very slippery!). Thankfully no injuries.Right, I'm off for my suit fitting!
