Hello all, well after a long time with mo updates I have finally finished work at reasonable time and managed to get some info onto this site. I left in quite short notice from NZ so if I did not catch everyone I am sorry. Patricia did get a supprise when I arrived in Sydney as she thought I was about 2 months away from coming back to the UK. She thought I had just come to Sydney for a couple of days and then flying back to NZ. She also was pleased that we were stopping in Dubai for a few days too as I managed to change her tickets without her knowing (very hard to do) Dubai was very Vegas style but just bizare to think it is all in the desert. There is heaps of development going on at the mo and will be great in a few years. It took a long time to get anywhere as gas is very cheap and cars are too. The roads are wide but there were too many cars to run smoothly. Everything there is biggest and best and if not it will be. They even have the tallest building in the world which you cant help but looking twice at, and if someone builds a higher building elsewhere, no problem they have the ability to just wack another level on as needed so it is basically unlimited for height. We did a little shopping and managed to see the mall with its very own indoor ski slope. I purchased a new camera in Dubai and that was about it. More time needed here.
Back in Oxford now and we have been working pretty solid for the last 2 months. Work is busy as ever and we are always recruiting for more staff each week. We are getting a company car and have chosen a Mini as they are made here in Oxford and I have always wanted one, it weill be black and hopefully I have enough time to keep it clean and its warm enough for me to clean it!!
We have booked a few events in the next few months, Silverstone, Beerfest, Cricket coming up and have been to Crufts which now I know is the biggest dog show in the world, and also the British Open Show jumping with the Whitaker's taking out 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Also we have a music festival with Paul Simon and Crowded house playing as well as many others which will be fun.
Have been enjoying some squash again and our team managed to avoid being relegated which was a releif. The club we play for also has some good squash box leagues that Patricia and I play in monthly but not happy to be paying for membership fees as well as 2 pond per 45min. it all adds up. Or to pay 3 pounds for an orange and lemonade!! I should really stop converting it to NZ dollars but old habits die hard.
Looking forward to some nice weather soon for some good british BBQ's and a chance to wear jandels and a t shirt.
Hope all is well back home and high to everyone. Will post some more photo's up as they come.
Take care
Gerard and Patricia
