Today we had a very cool day – checked out of the hotel and went via the metro to Damien and Suzi’s house which is very cool.
At around 1430 Gerard, Suzi and I went out to St Sauveur des Monts – a very cool ski resort close by to Montreal. We hired our snowboards and hit the slopes. It was so beautiful and hardly anyone was there. I was absolutely useless but that didn’t stop me from thinking it is the best skiing conditions and mountain we have ever been on. After a while Damien and Pete (another Aussie) arrived and Gerard went off with them zooming down the slopes – he said it was the fastest he has ever been and still they had to wait for him at the bottom. Me and Suzi had a quick soup break before heading back to the slopes. By this time it was getting darker and they had put all the lights on. It looked so beautiful. I only managed a little while longer before quitting due to being not only absolutely hopeless but also being incredibly unfit and having squashed toes – I just don’t think I am cut out for this snowboarding business!! Gerard and the rest kept at it and had a very cool time until around 1930 when we had to return our gear.
It was amazing that there were heaps of houses up the mountain as well and the car park was about 100m from the ski lift – no hour long drive up a winding mountain to get to the snow here – no it was on peoples doorsteps literally. I think the snowboarding in Canada has been one of the highlights for Gerard so far on our trip and he cant wait to get home to tell Mike Hester all about it!!!!!!
