My Big Adventure
Today we got up and dressed and headed back to the Whistlestop Cafe for another yummy breakfast, before checking out of our hotel and heading to Herberton Historic Village. When we got to Herberton we wandered around looking at all the different houses and shops which were set up as they were in the past. Admiring the old fashioned cameras, radios, school rooms and cars. It was quite funny walking around as we recognised lots of the items as ones which my Nan and Grandad used to have. This was made especially apparent when we went to the Herberton Press and saw all the letterpress printing machines and the smell of ink instantly sent me back to my childhood visits to Nan and Grandad's and watching grandad doing his printing. After we finished looking around Herberton and I had almost completely stacked it (although I actually think I styled it out pretty well) we jumped back in the car and completed our journey to Innisfail and Lucy's house! We dropped our bits off and then hopped back in the car again and headed for a tea and cake at Paronella Park and a view from the suspension bridge. We then all headed on to Etty Bay where we met some of Lucy's friends and had fish and chips by the beach. And we also saw our first wild cassowary who just prowls around the beach! From Etty Bay we headed back to Innisfail and settled in to our new home for the next couple of days!
