Alright well here goes my first blog of the trip.. Sorry there are no pictures yet, i cant upload them on the computer that i am at, so i have to wait till i get to france to do that.Â
So currently i am in london actually leaving today and very excited to get on with the trip. We did a ton of stuff and spent a ton of money.. London is super expensive 2 dollars to the pound and everything cost the same it would except its in pounds.. so a soda is liek 2 pounds which is 4 dollars ehre.. kinda expensive.. anyways so this is what weve done.
day 1: We went to the London Tower for most of the day saw the attractions walked through and learned most of the history of london. We got to see the royal jewels.. crown jewels whatever you want to call them, very bling bling. The tower was pretty cool and had some good things in it but was packed. it was memorial day weekend so everything was a bank holiday weekend while we were there so it was jam packed but still very cool stuff to see. After that we went to see the Tower bridge looks real cool. we dont have bridges like that in new york.. after that we saw the london bridge that is currently here... its stupid small and plain guess you have to go to arizona to see the good one... hmm what else we alos went tot he millenium bridge and walked over it sight seeing and stuff.. the millenium bridge is a bridge only meant for poeple to walk over no cars bikes or anything goes on it.. so it was kinda unique.. hmm we saw the globe theater but theres moer of that later..Â
Day 2: today we went to greenich england, where the prime meridian is. you know 0 deg. 0min 0 sec. that was pretty cool, we got to stand in the Eastern hemisphere and western hemisphere at the smae time. it was warmer on the west side, go figure (just kidding there was no differece its a make believe line kinda) but fun to do and take pictures at. After that we ewnt to this huge outside market they had. Saw lots of cool things and stuff for sale, and tried some awsome food. people really know how to cook here, or i must just be really hungry. anyways thats pretty much the 2nd day, we came backt o party hard early ( happy hour stated at 6) so ... you can see why we didnt do too much today
Day 3: today we went to st. pauls cathedral and checked outt he tombs of people that died in a fire there... we alos decided it would be interested to climb to the top. there were different levels in this building, the main floor, the basement then you climb up 130 stairs to a whispering dome.supposedly you can wisper on one side and hear it on the other but it was too loud in there to hear anything. people talking and stuff.. again it was pretty busy. however we wanted to get away from the people so we did wat most people wont do. we climbed another 300 or so stairs to the tip top of st. pauls. see the view of london from a higher perspective. got some nice scenery shots and also got dizzy from the stupid stiarcase that winds around and around and around. (didnt help my head was still spinning from the night before..) last night was the bad night with drinking... but we learned new games to play :) so its an even trade.Â
Day 4: this was our last full day in london. today we went to check outt he arsenal stadium. that was awsome, seeing a premiership futbol stadium. really something i wanted to do, too bad there was no game or tours available. didnt get to see hte pitch or anything but it was sweet to just be there. after that we then hit up the london dungeon where they take you on a tour of the history of london in the 1600'\s with the black plauge, the fire they had, jack the ripper, and all the other stuff that went on here. thta was really cool. saw how london used to be a few hundred years ago....hmm what else oh yeah saved the best for last. Last night we went to the original shakespear globe theater where you know all those famous plays romeo and juliet, othello and many others.. well we got to see a live full play of othello in the place where it was originally made. that was awsome, we are poor kids so we had to stand the whole time for 3 hours but the play was awsome, i think it should go broadway. that was one of the coolest things we did.
Day 5" today we are leaving so we slept a little later then we would have and are getting readyt o catch a train which will take us tothe ferry that will dock us in normandy. We are missing the anniversary of the invasion by a day or 2 but we think its goign to be packed. so thats all for now. will update when we are in france with some pictures hopefully. hope all is well at home. Â
