Back in San Andres. Got the boat today. Not many food options here that aren't really expensive. Like €50 for dinner.
We wandered along the road looking for a fair table. Fair tables are where people sell food from their home in their front yard or porch.
A lovely old lady and her friend James hooker Powell were selling cakes. Her son was supposed to open up his restaurant but he didn't make it. It's another public holiday here !
But she had some fish balls and crab empanadas. Empanadas are only nice if they are right out of the pan. Otherwise they are soft not the super crunchy chewy way I adore them. These had been cooked a while ago but we covered them in a crazy hot scotch bonnet sauce. Omg my face was in fire. Lips properly swollen. (Think I might rub scotch bonnet on my lips before heading out. It plumps them right up - only thing I'd need to be 100% sure I didn't get my skin. Ah I probably won't but it does work. High risk!)
Anyway we had this crab empanada with some nicely flavoured fish balls. They really do put loads of fish in them. Tasty. Mild fried fish and tomato flavour.
Such nice people they even set up a table and chairs for us.
