Ok so i have edited and updated the last blog entry as i was rused when finishing it before, so re-read it to see what happend on the first day in Mendoza and some more information on the other bits in Santiago and that as well.
Anyway the BBQ i talked about didn't dissapoint so much food especially meat, loads of nice people and free tequilla as well it was a very good night and i still managed to get up early enough this morning to go as planned cycling around the wineries. The day did get off to a bad start the street where i was told to get the local bus from was closed and i had to walk around for about an hour trying to find the next stop i didnt even know what direction the bus was supposed to go in but in the end i located opr rather stumbled across the bus and the bus stop and got to the bike rental place at mid-day this was perfect time in retrospect and i bumped into so many people i'd met the night before at the BBQ on the way round it was funny. Anyway i have made a discovery that i realy like red wine and the tasing and explanations were really helpful, and its set in the most beautiful of location and being autum there it is even better with all the different colours of the leaves, i went to 3 wineries in total and to a liquor shop didn't find anything to beat drambuie though, and i did try a lot. That evening i got back and met some argentinians in the hostel who were from bariloche which coinsidently is where i am now, anyway they were making empanadas its this south american food kinda like a pasty but they have so many shapes and fillings and they asked if i wanted to have some so that was a really good way to spend the night making or learning how to make empanadas and eating, then we went for a beer at 3 o'clock in the morning just a quiet beer, its so weird here.
Today i had to be up early for check out although i never left until the evening and everything like so many other places in south america was closed because its a sunday, so i went to the park and watched the locals play football they are football mad over here, sunbathed it was a gorgeous day and just relaxed before my night bus to bariloche.
I got to bariloche the following evening and the drive in was spectacular though an area called the 7 lakes, bariloche is in the heart of the lake district and at the very top of Patagonia. Although the sun was out and just setting when i arrived it was so cold around 2 degrees and thats how it been since i've been here dropping below freezing at night and no higher than 5 during the day. I joined the HI here most hostels in argentina are HI so im gonna save money and they have dinner meaning i dont have to go out in the real cold which is nice.
The next day i spent exploring Bariloche's centre and trying to sort out my next move everything needs far more planning here because its low season there are very few buses so i have to be organized. Bariloche is a really beautiful place a giant lake on one side, snowy mountains with ski-ing on the other 3 and with a real swiss themed architecture the houses are amazing, mum you would love a house here. I whiled away the day in and out of chocolate shops and museums inclding a really intestesting one on the history of patagonia the plants and animals. The days are shorter here sun rises at about half 9 and sets about 5.
Today i booked a flight to get to the glacier its not how i wanted to get there but the only way, thats what i mean about being organised, some things just close down for winter here, and being the last of the major things i have to do here in South America i wasn't going to miss out and am really happy to kno that im gong to being going in a weeks time, then in the afternoon i took a local bus to the largest ski centre in the area its a week before the season here and there is loads of people rushing around but not a lot to see other than that and was really cold there, so i didnt spend long.
Tomorrow i am going to go cycling around some of the lakes and trekking in a small forest to get some spectacular panoramic views i just hope the weather is ok i was supposed to do it today but the weather was too bad, thats the way it is here though a waiting game for the right oportunity.
