I'm in Sydney, Australia!! I've been waiting a long time for this - its amazing to be here - I was excited just stepping off the plane! It was slightly hard at first having just said goodbye to so many good friends and stepping into this new place, by myself. But when you're on the road I've learnt you're never alone! So many people are travelling by themselves - I've made some friends and Diana and Beth (two girls I volunteered with in South Africa) are arriving today to my hostel!! I've been seeing all the usual sights - the Sydney Opera House (much smaller than I imagined!), Darling harbour, walking across Sydney Harbour Bridge, going up the Sky Tower, wandering the Botanical Gardens. I had a beach day at Bondi beach on the weekend, sampled the classy clubs in the Rocks area and even been to the cinema with Petra, for a reminder of home life! Petra is this really nice German girl in my room I've been hanging out with a lot. We're trying to decide whether/how to get up the East Coast at the moment, as I want to see Fraser Island and go snorkelling and sailing around the Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef! Petra isn't sure and to me - it all depends on money and time so I'm still deciding what to do. Whatever I do I think I'll be pretty satisfied by the fact that I got tickets to see Swan Lake at the Sydney Opera House last night!!! We got a random tip from a guy we met for five minutes in a coffee shop the night before about tickets that become available if you stand and wait for a while (much like in London I guess). Had to pay a bit more than I'd have liked but oh well - they were amazing seats at an incredible venue!!! For Swan Lake!!! What more can I say?!
