Day 6 - we were up early to catch the bus into Bordeaux (didn't want to attempt driving in there again!!). We gave up waiting for the 9:35 bus at 9:50 and then as we were walking back in to the hotel it went past. Went back for the 10:35 and it was 20 mins late as well. Got into Bordeaux finally just on midday. Had lunch in the Place des quinconces where the French celebrated winning back their independence from the English in the 15th century.
We started walking along the river to the science museum but it was so hot the girls were lagging behind. It was our first really hot day. We jumped on the tram instead but got there too early. It didn't open to 2pm. Good excuse to go for a cold beer (which was the same price as the girls coke!)
The museum was pretty cool. They had a T-Rex exhibition on with life size moving dinosaurs and lots of interactive stuff. Lauren got to put on a 3D mask and headphones and go on a roller coaster ride through a medieval village. I had a go too and found it a bit scarey!
Then we caught the tram back to the town centre and saw some amazing architecture - the Grand Theatre, town Hall and Cathedral St Andre. Back down a very busy pedestrian only shopping street to catch the bus. We got directed to 3 different bus stops so missed the 6:12. We finally got to the right stop and had to wait until 6:42. Were late getting home again! Off to Albi tomorrow - will have to negotiate the roads again!
