Day 14: A fascinating exploration of these strange rock formations, Kalu Kalu, gets the day underway. Much to the boys disappointment, we leave and head for Daly Waters. Harry and Darcy decide they want to live at the Devils Marbles... It has been a very hot drive in the car, and after 6hrs of driving on the straightest road ever(!), we set up at the camp site of the famous Daly Waters Pub. A well earned splash in the pool and a cold beverage, relaxes the body...

Day 13: We leave Glen Helen Resort after a walk to one of the largest permanent waterholes along the Finke River. Fact: there are 9 species of native desert fish in this waterhole...we see...none! Day 12: We left Alice after 2 nights of downtime, and headed for the West MacDonnell Ranges. Fact: these ranges have been nominated for World Heritage status due to their biodiversity and geological significance! Our first stop along the ranges was the Standley Chasm. A great short walk following the creek, led us to 80m high walls, about six foot apart...awesome! We then did the lookout walk which gave us the most amazing view back along the ranges. Day 11: A nice relaxing day in Alice. Craig spent the morning putting a back-up battery in the van, with Riley's help, while the big boys swam and I read a little. Spent the afternoon exploring the town, checking out the Royal Flying Doctors Service, which was very interesting! We also walked the heritage path, looking and reading about the early settlers to the area. I can imagine living in a town like Alice Springs (pardon the reference). It is quite appealin...

Day 10: We are in Alice Springs. Not what I had on the schedule, but we need to restock (at Coles, which is cheaper than the little IGA's) and Craig needs to do a few fix-it things with the van. So we are staying here for two nights.
