Day 2: after an uneventful nights sleep (except for me, too wound up to sleep properly), we had breakfast and got back on the Mitchell Hwy, headed to Broken Hill.
The countryside changed amazingly as we left rural NSW and got further into the Outback. Green trees and grass were replaced by ploughed and wheat stubbled fields. We were all curious about the white fluffy stuff on the edges of the road at Narromine, followed by sheer excitement at seeing our first cotton fields. Such an amazing site!
As the kms passed by the landscape changed quite dramatically to red red soil, and low low scrub...and flat! So flat.
So tonight we are pulled off on the side of the road at Doll Hill Rest Area (that's this blogs photo) about 160km E of Broken Hill. A successful dinner before dark (with gas only, no power!) and a little campfire made by the boys as the sun set. So peaceful and so quiet...my city ears are still ringing.
A great day!
