Breaking dawn again, I boarded my 6am flight from Cebu to Manila to meet my company to explore the deep mountains, terraces, and villages of Ifugao Province.
We were so excited of this weeklong trip (Mar3- 10)! It was a challenge to escape the heavy traffic of Manila, though and finally smell the fresh scent of rainforest, grass, and the slow-pace-time doesn't matter in the mountains. Nevertheless, we are enjoying each other's company while anticipating to reach our final destination.
The supposedly 8-hour trip to the province became 12 due to traffic and road construction. We talked, laughed, dozed off... thanks to our very patient driver, Eunice, who brought us safe and comfortably to the town of Banaue before midnight strikes.
We were so happy to finally arrived, and crawled to our respective beds, trying to get as much sleep as we can to be ready for the next several days' journey!
Mar 4. 6am, the powerful and beautiful sunrise lit our room and woke up our senses. Despite the chill of morning dew, I can't help but take a round outside of Banaue Hotel to enjoy this magnificent view one can barely observe in the city. It was also good time to meet with hotel staff, whom I've grown fond of, over the years of my frequent visit to this little town.
At exactly 9 o'clock, we set off to the first village we are about to visit - Pula Village. With us are our tour guide Lawrence, and 2 porters to bring the school supplies we will distribute to the villages and some foods- Noel & Michael. The 6-hour walk through the winding road of the mountain was exhilirating but beautiful. Fresh air indeed brought to me simple joys! The sweats were screaming with much happiness as they jumped out of my skin pores finally released after several weeks being stocked inside due to less physical activities. My body was rejoicing, at the same time asking me to stop for the walk is long as it is used to be. But I know I can't stop now, and I wouldn't. This is just the beginning.
