Kobenhavn!
Finally found my way down to Copenhagen. This is a really beautiful city that I kind of wish that I could have studied here instead of Aarhus. The city is much larger with alot more diversity then here in Aarhus. Also found out an interesting fact, Aarhus seems to be the fashion capital of denmark, which explains how everyone is always dawning the newest fashion trends.
I made my way to Copenhagen with my buddy Till and his friend who came up to visit with him, Mo. His name is actually much longer but couldnt pronounce it so he suggested Mo. We jumped into Till's car early friday (2pm) and headed to to the ferry and took it across the bay. Saved us I believe an hour. The ride was long and since it gets dark at 4pm, when i woke from my nap I could have sworn it was midnight. Ran into some problems at the start. I booked a hostel because Heather, Till's old school mate who they were meeting has a small apt much like mine and can only put up Till and his buddies. No problem, but the hostel I booked cancelled my reservation casue I was 2 hours late. Wonderful. Found another cheap place but had to pay by night and couldnt book the entire weekend. Not too much of a hassle.
Till dropped me off at my hostel, and I met up with Ruth and Sam who were already in denmark and we to see the night life of Copenhagen. Met up with Heather, Till, Phillip, and Mo at a student club that we were able to get into because Heather is a student of CBS (Copenhagen business School). It was actually one of the clubs used for the MTV afterparty (three discos right next to eachother.) and they still had the red carpet out. Had to pose. It was a great night.
Saturday was very gloomy with rain, Sight seeing was really not possible but we just jumped from one coffee house to the next one in order to avoid the rain. But we were atleast able to see cristiania which is a hippy commune taken over in the 70's. really wasn't too amazed by it but it might have more life in the summer. Kind of cool that they have their own government, currency, and rules. They are only somewhaere of 25 blocks of residency too.
Sadly Ruth came down with a really bad fever, so Sam and Ruth headed back on the train that night. Went out that night with Till and his buddies, who Heather, was able to get our names on a guest list. The club was quite expensive to get in, but since we were on the 'Guest List' we went in free. a real fun night and was able to learn some more German.
Sunday was a real good sight seeing day. I took a canal tour that let me see the famed colorful canal, the opera house, old navel yards, the little mermaid, and other historic sights. I really enjoyed the tour and suggest it to anyone traveling to denmark. I also visited the royal palace and the gardens, granted the gardens arent that great now but in the spring I bet they are world renown. Copenhagen also has credited itself with the longest shopping street in the world. it was fun just strolling around peoplewatching and window shopping. It is getting really cold here, and im in the market of a thicker jacket.
Overall the trip was great especially it was a road trip, I will most likely head back in a month because of Tivoli, First known theme park built in the early 19th century. In december it is decorated for christmas, so stay tuned for that.
