Right then! Lets have some rhiannon time as we all get a bit bored of stu sometimes don't we ;)
Well yes I can confirm that indeed Stu did a bungy! He was very brave and it did look incredibly scary but it was all over in a matter of seconds and was nothing compared to a 12000 feet sky dive! Oh yes, me little s*** scared wittrick did a bloody ski dive out of a plane!! It was terrifying but so glad I did it and I can now say a bungy at 47 metres is a little piddly don't you think?!?!
So let me try and build the scene.... Tuesday 26th February, woke up early and rather than go for our normal 6 o'clock morning run me and stu decided to venture out onto the water and do some hard core kayaking! The waves were high and the wind strong, some turned back but oh no not us! We braved it and the instructor said I'd done brilliantly (didn't mention stu... maybe cos he wasn't great against the other girls in the group!! Plus he found it funny to splash!!) At the half way point we felt the strain and stus stomach started to rumble! Fortunately the instructor had sweeties at the other end and at the mention of this stu started paddling hard and with my directions we were back in no time! Stu then ate the company out of house and home but was very happy and sat grinning because not only was his belly full but he was on a trip with 5 girls and come on... who cares what they looked like!
I dropped into the conversation that I was thinking of a sky dive and the next thing I knew another girl Stella was like 'well come on then!' I was like.... ok!' So that was it! We went straight to the office and they offered us a 2 o'clock slot but no... that wasn't good enough for me... it was half 12 and I wanted to go now! The girl behind the desk looked at me a little scared and then said she may get us on the 12.50 and I just said 'Do it!' She did!
Although heavily shaking at this point I felt that I had to go through with it! I couldn't let stu be the winner of the most scary activity! So I paid and we went to get ready! This involved watching a safety video at which point my tandem guy decided to dress and harrness me up so I was like s*** I didn't see the video and he remarked ' well we are going to die then!!' Thankfully I got past this remark and after spending 4 weeks driving around with stu at the wheel I thought 'Whatever!'
So in my boiler suit and lots of tight straps (and a lovely hat) I matched towards the plane! The film Armegedden springs to mind... we looked like we were about to go save the world! Unfortunately noone looked like Ben Affleck but we can't have everything!
Everyone got in the plane but I was held back.... whats going on? I kept saying to Mr Tandem. He just kept shrugging! It turned out to be that I was going first! Bloody FIRST! I didn't even get to sit in a seat but had to sit on the floor right by the open door! Talk about brave... I think so!
So we climbed to 12000 feet and then it was time! Even if I had changed my mind at this point it wouldn't have done me a lot of good as because I was by the door I was blocking everyone else so had to go! So he told me to put my feel outside the door and hold onto the harness... like I wasn't going to!! We sat on the side on the plane for what seemed like ages but then we fell me on top! I thought it was all over... sky dives aren't supposed to happen like this! Im supposed to be able to see the ground! Fortuely we turned round and although it took me most of my free fall to let go I bloody did it! And that bit was brilliant! I even got it filmed so the memory will live on forever! The parachute went up and then after a few speedy turns during which I told him if he didn't stop I would puke! we landed and then I'd done it!
So stu what can I say? A bungy you say... ah... well Bungy Spongy!! Your girlfriend is a legend!
