Wed 21st Oct:
hahaha first thing we had to do was collect our washin from a chinese laundry across the street lol an ndeedless to say it didnt come back smelling of comfort pmsl :D
What a cultural day we've had temple'd and buddha'd up!!!
Started by goin to the Khoo Kongsi temple which is a chinese temple where people of the same surname congregate, and is apparently the grandest clan temple on the island of Penang! After this walked to the Kapitan Keling Mosque, (see pics) lol.
From there we went on our day trip which was an organised tour but turned out to be just me an fee haha so really it was a chauffeured tour as the wee bus driver kept saying Miss Donna here we have .... etc lol lol! First stop was the reclining buddha which has thousand of people's ashes encased into the walls, an there were a few remaining spaces which are reserved for people still living as there is no space in the ground for them to be buried, quite eery.
Went to Malaysia's finest coffee and chocolate making shop an tasted various coffees, teas an chocolate, our fave was the coconut coffee, we were so temtped to buy it but no space in our bags as they are gettin heavier by the day grrrr!!!
From here we went to Penang Hill which is 2730ft above sea level an involved travelling in the funicular train which has been in operation since 1922 no wonder it tok us half an hour to get up! Pure boilin an sardines in a can but good when u get off as it's 5degrees cooler an get a pretty cool view of the whole island and over to the mainland :D
Kek lok Si Temple was our final stop, which is the largest temple on the island and apparently "one of the finest buddhist temples in south-east asia" :D we seen features shrines, sculptures, gardens, a turtle pond, and a big giant laughing buddha! lol! Our wee guide (who we have named Harry cos he was dead cute an looked like a wee Harry lol) asked us where we wanted dropped off, an we asked to go to the bank first before we went bk to the hotel an he escorted Fee across the busy road haha so cute! When he dropped us off his parting words were :goodbye Miss Donna and good luck awwww hahaha!
Just going go for dinner - yip more 7eleven pot noodles lol - then bk to the hotel quiet night off to Langkawi in the morning which is Malaysia'a top holiday destination an its a duty free island so hopefully we'l get plenty a beer beer beer!!! :D
Hope use are enjoying the blog, will update again asap. Dont laugh too much at the pics lol!
