Today we are going to visit the S21 museum (Genocidal Center) Phnom Penh.S21 was a former school and this is where the security office 21 was designed for the detention, interrogation, inhuman torture and killings. These were orders from Pol Pot under the Khmer Rouge regime. This was used from 1975-1979.In 1979 fourteen bodies were found on the premises. These fourteen bodies have been buried on the grounds of S21.These were the last people to be tortured and killed in S21 personnel before they fled. This is not like any other museum. They have left how they found it.The items used for torture in their original place. There is still blood stains on all the floors. There are the pictures of the fourteen people in each room they were found in.It's is very disturbing. There is one huge room where there are photographs of all the victims and people who were held in S21.There are so many, women, children and men.It was terrible.

Today we are heading to the 'Killing Fields'.This is where the prisoners of S21 were taking. They were all told lies about where they were being taking so not to make any noise and raise any suspicion. This is where the prisoners (women, children, babies and men) were killed by being shot in the head or being hit in the skull to death. They were all put into mass graves.Even babies were taking from their mothers and hit against a tree until they died.Around 20,000 people were executed here.129 mass graves were found here.It is not a nice place but I felt it was important to go and pay respect to all these people who were buried here. I can't believe that this all went on.It was not even that long ago. It's shocking. We are booked on the bus to go to Siem Reap today. In a way I'm glad to be going as it's very sad here.
