Our final evening in Dalat was good, headed to the Hangout backpacker bar an met an American chap who is travelling alone. Had a few beers with him an an couple of games of pool. It's 4:1 to mike at the moment.
Anyways he said he's going to keep in touch on Facebook an hopefully make it to the August full moon.
So we have spent a few days in a lovely little place called Mui Ne. It's on the east coast so nice an hot again!
Bus journey down the Mui Ne was eventful...crammed 24 of us onto a bus an took the bumpiest road possible. They love to beep, drive with one hand an on the phone! The roads are like snakes pass in Sheffield so really safe....
I was quite happy though I had an unlimited amount of boyband song to get through on my phone :) Some guy got on after about an hour, he didn't pay plus he had a huge bag of rice an a bird! Can't see Arriva let us off with that! The bus took about 4 hours to get there, our shortest but worst journey to date! No air con an when it was on it was warm blowing sand, great.
When we arrived we went put our bags in the hostel, not bad room, it has ac an hammocks outside! We went to the beach for a bit then just chilled back at the hostel in the hammocks! There was a little puppy an a monkey that we're playing, it was so cute!!
We took a walk to the Red sand dunes which looked really close on the map but it ended up being a 10k trip! Needless to say we got a taxi back!! We skyped home an seen pretty much everyone which was fab!
It started battering it down about 4am, like really really coming down. It was so noisy I couldn't sleep, it rained for about an hour, the roof of the room was metal so it sounded even worse.
We took a bus to Saigon on Monday which was awful, the drive etc wasn't bad but the bus has a sever lack of air con. The bus took about 5 hours so not bad. Our hotel in Saigon was lovely, two big beds :)
We spent the rest of the day wandering around an when we got back our room got upgraded!! Bigger bed and a balcony! That night we went out for a bit. The streets are mad! Full of people on the floor drinking!
Next morning we hit the sights!
- the opera house
- the reunification palace
- government building
- the pagoda
- notra dam cathedral
We also went to the war museum which was so eye opening it was unreal, the war ended 24 years ago and the poor Vietnamese are still seeing effects of the orange gas. Honestly had no idea at all so I'm really glad we went. We then went to the water puppets which were closed again so we have give up trying to see them now!! We then went to the market to get some tshirts, we got a bia hoi and a Saigon vest and she wanted 240,000 dong for them both but we got her down to 100,000 for them both so not bad! We then booked our bus an boat to phu quoc island an managed to get her from $62 down to $50 so our bartering skills are getting better!!
We spent the next day walking to the pagoda, it was about 3 miles away so not awful but it was scorching!! Didn't realise how far away it was as on the map it looks really close!! We spend the evening sat on a street floor drinking cheap beer with the locals. We met a couple of Brits which was good. One of them was a lawyer an just decided to quit his job an travel the world! Mad!
Our final day in Saigon was pretty chilled. We had seen all the sights, bought rubbish an ate far to much western food! Can't not when there is a Subway an Burger King in town! It rained today too so not the best. We saw 2 rats literally within 2 mins of each other it was mingin!
Seems like I'm travelling with someone who Vietnamese people think is a Stoner!! I've now lost count of how many people have offered Mike marijuana!!
We got the bus at 11pm to Rach Gia to get over to Phu Quoc. 4:30am us an another couple of people were ordered off the bus to get Onto a mini bus. Half asleep we got on it....5:30 we were dumped outside a closed office were we had to get out tickets for the boat....not ideal! Anyway we got them by 7 an headed to the boat. We got Into Phu Quoc at 11 so not bad but were both shattered now! Went for a wander before an some lunch. We had booked an expensive room there so only staying 3 nights, has a pool!! I say expensive...it was £47 for the 3 nights so not awful just a lot more than we are used to!! Just been for a swim an the heavens have opened!
Phu Quoc is our final stop in Vietnam, can't believe how quick it has gone!
I'll update again when we are in Cambodia! The pics will be to follow soon!
Love you all xxxx
