Hello to everybody, here's hoping the weekend brings you good things.
So much has happened over the last 30 days that at times it seems I am in another world, I feel so privileged to be doing this.
I Arrived in Mysore for my second last stop on my Indian adventure.
It's a big city about the size of Brum, but their landmark is a palace rather than the Rotunda, I guess our palace in Brum is Villa Park.
In a strange way Mysore and so much of India reminds me of rural Ireland with it's greenery and that laid back almost innocent attitude to life that at times can be frustratingly slow but asks the question Why rush? Just take things easy.
I am staying with a friend of somebody I met on my travels, an Englishman who lives here and offers a home stay. It's a beautiful house in the suburbs, there is a resident cook who conjures up the most delightful food( sorry Della I have found someone to challenge you as my favourite chef).
Today was the most fulfilling day so far as I eventually saw some elephants, it's only taken me 31 days. We drove to an elephant camp where I actually bathed the elephants and what joy it gave me.
Also visited a Buddhist temple which was mightily impressive, in the grounds of the temple was also a monastery which looked at bit like a Butlins holiday camp!
I have met many different types of interesting people on my journey but the most striking aspect is the wide range of ages of people I have connected with, today for example a young English girl who was also staying at the homestay shared the trip with me, she was travelling alone which takes enormous courage and she was delightful company who showed maturity beyond her years, the other person whom I met in Varkala and had a good connection with was more mature in terms of age but of equal good character. That I think tells a story that age doesn't matter when it comes to talking we can learn good things from anybody, as they say its good to talk! So, why not find time to converse with a person of a different generation?
At the centre of non-violence stands the principle of love.
