Goodbye India, my last 2 days were spent in Bangalore, a completely chaotic city with over 8 million people residing there. I suppose you could compare it to London in terms of sheer size, but I have yet to bump into any cows whilst walking down Oxford street so therein the similarities end. However in a huge contrast the trendy suburbs which houses the select few has the designer outlets, gym clubs and wine bars but these cater for only the minority.
Whilst it is in it's infancy as a competing city on the world stage, make no mistake there are signs that in the coming years it will along with the rest of India will emerge as global competitors, we must remember India is the 3rd largest economy in the world. The IT district is showing signs of spreading where the middle classes now vie to drink in trendy coffee houses and western fast food outlets paying 10 times the average price just to be seen in them. It is quite strange and a little baffling to see middle class Indians paying 150 rupees(£2) for an espresso where you can get one in a local joint 50 yards away for 20 rupees(25p).
So thankyou India for allowing me to be your guest for the last 5 weeks, it has been so memorable. I set out what I wanted to achieve and more, there was not one single highlight as each location had it's own qualities.
Yes I have seen some amazing locations and those will stick with me forever but the meeting of the day to day people and their warmth meant a lot to me. Next stop Malaysia.
When you plant a potato, if it does not grow well, you don’t blame the potato. You look for reasons it is not doing well. It may need fertilizer, or more water, or less sun. You never blame the potato. Yet if we have problems with our friends or family, we blame the other person. But if we know how to take care of them, they will grow well, like the potato. Blaming has no positive effect at all, nor does trying to persuade using reason and arguments. That is my experience. No blame, no reasoning, no argument, just understanding.
