Hello Everyone
BROTHER NOD HAS ARRIVED - FINALLY!! And what an arrival. It didn't start off to well, as there was mass confusion over when he was actually turning up (his flight details said Saturday but he was adament it was Friday - which it did in fact turn out to be, ha ha ha, nervous laugh!!). So, thinking it was Saturday that Mr Club Class would get here, i went out on Thursday evening with a few chums for one or few light beverages, and to savour the Sydney evening ambience! However, when i rolled in at 4am (!!!) i was mightly glad that the brother wouldn't be here until Saturday morning, as i would need AT LEAST a day to recover from what ended up as a big night out.
No such luck
At 6.04am, my phone starts ringing, my dorm room mates start getting angry at me, and i start to sober up! Club Class has landed and he's not happy. "Where are you, why aren't you at the airport" says the angry text message on my phone! "I'm in bed" i think, "and my head hurts!!!" So, with a shower taken quicker than Ben gets through a Big Mac (sorry mate, still love you!), i stubble out of the dorm, go down to reception, and wait for him to rock up. And rock up he does. Now when you are staying in a Backpackers Hostel, the last thing you expect to see is someone with two SUITCASES turn up at the front door, both on (excuse the swearing mum) F**KING WHEELS, and one with a (sorry again) F**KING SILVER BA CLUB CLASS LUGGAGE CARD ATTACHED TO IT!!! No Nod, you don't slum it do you son??
So, after the moaning, accusations, and outright lying (on my behalf, i said i forgot, or had a cold, or something!), we nip off for breaky. Spend Friday morning just walking around Sydney, went to the Opera house etc, awaiting the time of check in to the room - 12pm! Now this was just funny. We already know Club Class boy here does it in style, so when he saw the "twin" room i had so kindly booked for us (at an increased rate of $44 per person per night!) his face was aghast with shock: "Where are the towles, i haven't brought one?", "Are you going to make my bed little brother", and the classic from me "Do you want top or bottom bunk??". HE WAS SHOCKED. You couldn't swing a cat in this room, so when he started to laugh, you could tell he was waiting for me to say "Only joking, our room is down the hall, the one with the en-suite jacquizi and the 24hr maid waiting to make your bed"....but he was wrong.
Anyway, after this initial shock, which took most of the day for him to get over, we made our way to the Telstra Stadium, where we got our tickets for the Australia Vs South Africa game that is this Saturday (7th). We then went on a tour of the stadium, and got some great photoes of us re-enacting Johnie Wilkinson's world famous winning drop goal from the 2003 World Cup! LEGEND! However, with me taking loads of photoes, i was accused at one point of looking like a complete tourist (Yes Simon, well i AM A TOURIST!) - i just think he was still in shock.
Back to the room, or "cell", and after a power nap, we attempted to ahve a few beers, but ended up getting to bed about 12ish, as he was jetlagged and i was just knackered. So, Saturday we did all the tourist stuff. Went on the open top bus (it was freezing) and saw all the sights. Even went around the Maritime Museum, and visited the Imax cinema. After a full day of it, we went back to our humble abode, and got ready for the night out. We ended up in Darling Harbour, at a place called Cargo's. Now considering i'm on a budget, i did not see one happy hour, or drinks promotion, or anything that would suggest this was going to be cheap. But thats how Nod rolls i'm afraid. It was a great night though, mostly because he paid...HA HA HA!!!
So Sunday we moved hostels - this was requested IMMEDIATELY once Simon had walked into his cell with no towels, and no made bed - going round the corner to the YHA. This was much more to his liking, with a bigger room, and more comfortable surroundings - still expensive for me but i keep getting told "this is only 20 quid back home, deal with it", so i do!
Sunday was spent planning the weeks activities, including our roadtrip, which we are now on. Also went over to Bondi, which was pretty crap, and finsihed off the day with a few beers in Sidebar, below Wake Up. On Monday, after a good nights sleep in our new palace, we attempted to do a skydive, well at least i did (Nod only fly's the plane, he doesn't jump out as "quite frankly Kenny (his nickname for me), it will land again you idiot!!!"). Unfortunately though, wind stopped all the fun and it got cancelled. I seem destined not to do a skydive here, but i will do one eventually, somewhere, ANYWHERE!!
So, we head back to Sydney and book our hire car, and bus down to Melbourne. Went out on Monday night, but only for a cheeky few, so that we could be away early on Tuesday. After picking up the car at the airport (which looks like a flipping Club Class car anyway) we head off to the Blue Mountains, which is where we are now. Tuesday was spent doing a walk around the sites, seeing the Three Sisters rocks (see photo), and around the valley. Today (Wednesday) we went over to the caves about 1.30hours away, which was wicked. Check out the photos, which will go on very soon.
So tonight we are going to watch some rugby on the telly, and then tomorrow we are off to wine tasting country in the Hunter Valley (see, i'm already becoming more civilised, i am up for just doing beer tasting! WAHEY). We will be getting back to Sydney on Saturday for the Rugby, so i will next update you on my arrival in Melbourne next Monday!
Until then adue, avoir, and goodbye. I am learning what it is like to be in the Club Class gang now
Love to all
