3 days on Fraser island! Arrived at the hostel the day before for a briefing and met the group that we would be sharing our 4WD with and camping with or the next 3 days. 4 ozzy guys, 1 English girl, 1 Irish girl and me and noortja. Very fun group even by the end of the briefing we had a reputation as the naughty group! Haha! Set of early the next morning, absolutely boiling weather but the sweating was worth it for the beautiful island. After setting up camp (boys set up camp while girls made lunch!) we set of to lake Mckenzie. I drove all the way up the beach and through the rainforest, luckily the ozzy guys had experience driving on the sand so help us girls out. Lake Mckenzie was simply stunning it it was so goo to swim in the fresh water and get all the sweat and Sand off!! Cooked dinner as a group and enjoyed a few drinks, walked down the beach to watch the moon rise, absolutely beautiful. After a quite uncomfortable sleep on the sand (none of the boys offered us there air beds) it was an early start the next morning. Set of to eli creek, which was FREEZING water! Stopped of at the ship wreck on the way to lunch, found a cafe so had a good feed on chicken and chips, before heading off to Indian he's look out. Next stop was the champagne pool for another swim, before going back to camp for dinner and drinks. Final day we wake up to find that out 4WD had a flat tyre, but this was ok as our stunning tour guide changed it for us, while the girls all drooled! We set of for lake wabi, it's about a 30 minute, very sweaty walk through the rain forest and over boiling sand dunes, but it was so gorgeous to jump into the lovely warm water to cool down, even with all the cat fish. After this we headed back to the ferry back to rainbow beach and finally showers and proper toilets! It was so good to each sand out of places I never knew sand could get to! All the sweating, being dirty for 3 day, and peeing in a bucket was totally worth it for such an amazing, sunny experience on a paradise island.
