So Koh Samui, just a short stop over before heading to the next full moon, basically a time to relax and save abit of money and energy.
After traveling for a while now i dont even know why we make plans! Samui was the largest and most built up island we'd been on. It had its own airport and alot more commercial shops. We'd been told where to try and get a hostel so headed there, when we arrived it was stop on, opposite mcdonalds, above burger king, on our left was all the shops and on the right was the main strip of bars :) there was no chance any money was getting saved here.
On our 1st day we decided to get bikes out again to travel around the island and try and find some viewpoints. We followed the map onto a dirt track and as we only had mopeds carried on with a bit of caution, an hour later and still going up the dirt track, when i say up i mean it aswell, the hills were very steep! We finally found a small restaurant and managed to ask where we were on the map, On the other side of the island to where we started :) we'd obviously missed the viewpoint and driven miles out of the way! The view from the restaurant was decent anyway so we had a bite to eat and took a few photos. It didnt bother us as where we were as we were exploring anyway so we carried on, this is where the downhills started and the start of my downfall. Where i was using the back brake so much it eventually got too hot and stopped working, which meant i had to put the front ones on very sharply which of course sent me straight over the handle bars and about 50 yards down the hill!
I'd manged to make the bike land on me so there wasnt alot of damage to that but my legs and feet were in tatters! I had cuts all up both legs and also a set of broken wing mirrors on the bike! I'd got away with it lightly but still had to find somewhere to get the bike sorted as there would of been a massive fine waiting for me at the hire place. On route home i found a small family run garage who was more then happy to help me out and got them sorted for a fiver which was very lucky!
The only other stop we made on our trip was to a set of waterfalls, after being on the jungle treck in chaing mai they had alot to live up to. The first one we went to was a lot taller then the others we'd seen but didnt have alot of water running over as it was only a small stream running through it. I wont even bother with the 2nd one, theres more running water when i brush my teeth in the sink then this waterfall had. So overall was quite disappointing.
So we did alot better then we thought and manged only 1 night out and didnt spend to much on shopping. We did get a little carried away with burger king and mcdonalds but we had gone a few months without so didnt mind to much.
