Day 8 - Albuquerque and Santa Fe
I had a lazy morning taking my time! I headed to the old town part of albuquerque, it was not what I was expecting but it was very peaceful and relaxing, very typical of this area (new Mexico) I stopped at a little bakery in the main plaza and had breakfast got chatting to some lovely English ladies that were doing a route of 66!! It was a blast!
I headed north to Santa Fe! This place is an arty, ethic mishmash of things! I stopped at the fashion outlet, only bought something for Lukas!! Not too impressed with anything else!
I booked into my hotel - the silver saddle motel, famous for being in movies that starred John wayne and Clint Eastwood! It truly is an experience!! On the advice of the receptionist I head into the main part of Santa Fe - the Plaza, where there is a market in the centre with every type of knick knack shop you can think of around it and it's a little expensive! But the place is beautiful! The building are that amazing terra-cotta colour and all the wood work is turquoise, it looks so good!! I walked through every arcade and market to see all that was on offer!!
I had dinner in a restaurant on the second floor over looking the plaza! I had a prickly pear margarita and nachos with green chile, which is a new Mexico specialty!! What a dinner, I loved it! The margarita was to die for!!!
I then went back to the hotel to get some rest and watch TV!!
