Hey right Im really sorry i havent written on here in a while but im starting to think ur all losers as all of u havesaid ur having withdrawal symptoms!!!
Well sooooo much has happened since i last was on here!! well i stayed over carlas and then stayed at shonas for 2 nights as she was having a few parties!! then on sat (after a lot of panicking about bus times) we managed to hop on the last bus to tena...well the majority of us did. we had 15 mins of pure panic as carl (who by the way is a hell of a lot more fluent than the rest of us!!) hadnt got on the bloody bus but he managed to hail it down and get on it in th end. 7 hours and a lot of sleeping and listening to ipods later we arrived in tena not before meeting 2 jehovahs witnesses on the bus and they organised for someone to pick us up and find us a hostel (the hilton i tell you!! was $5 a night...BARGAIN!!) needless to say that was an early night (managed to find a pizzeria to fatten up again tho!!)
the next day the man who picked us up from the terminal took us white water rafting and i can safely say that was one of the best days of my life. we only did class 3 (with clas 4 parts) which prob means nothing to most of u but thought i should put it in. we all got quite horrifically sunburnt (im blaming the malaria tablet as they make u prone to sunburn!!) we managed to tip the raft as the waves were incredible (thr guide blatantly did it on purpose!) he found it really funny to keep pushing me in the water, which i didnt actually mind as it was the most refeshing water i have ever been in!! oh and we got stuck in the rapids for a good five minutes, which was really funny for the first few then everyone started to worry as we couldnt get out again!! they made us the most amazin lunch which consisted of alot of chocolate cake and pineapple!! they also took us trekking through a cave, pained our entire bodies with mud and walked through a bats cave (quite scarey actually as i hadnt had my rabies jab and they were flying extremely close to my head!!) oh i would never recommend walking through caves without shoes, we all found that out the hard way!!
later that night me, carla, carl and jess went wandering through tena to find a guide to take us anywhere further into the forest which is when we stumbled accross the lovely samuel (pronounced samwell here!)...jamie says hes the missing link between chimps and humans, i think thats a bit harsh hes just not the brightest spark around. we managed to get in down to $20 a day, which believe me u will not find any cheaper anywhere!! he lost money to take up away!! after negotiating a price we found a ripoff subway and settled down for some dinner only to be interupoted by some bloke asking ME to pay for his meal (do people think i look like a charity??) anyways carl sorted it out, or so we thought until we looked outside and saw a man staring at us flashing a MASSIVE knife!! yeah he didnt go away either and even when the guard asked him to leave he only went up the road to wait for us. it was so scarey, we got a taxi back so dont worry!!
the next day samuel offered us a free waterfall tour, not sure why to this day tho...again must be part of his lack of businessman skills!! we took a taxi down there, which didnt involve sitting in the taxi but sitting on the back of the pick up bit (pix to come!) anyways samuel bought us wellies and off we trekked!! was beautiful and we had to climb THROUGH the waterfall to get the place to be!! only to climb back after about 5 mins but was worth the pure agony of a lot of water crashing down on my new sunburn!! anyways then samuel took us to an indigenous tribe which he said would be a 30 min walk, 2 hours later we arrived. i ws dying!! they cooked us a great lunch though and was well worthwhile!! we decided it would be best to get a bus home but somehow managed to end up waiting an hour and a half for the bus and this is when we found out what samuel was really like. out came the rude and totally unfunny jokes (not because they were offensive but becuase they had obviously been made up on the spot and were mainly about rape. odd little man!)
later that night we left the lovely town of tena for bigger and better things, namely cuyabeno which is in the province of sucumbios (which is an area which british tourists have actually been banned from as it borders columbia and is really dangerous but we took the risk!) at about 6 am we got off the bus in lago agrio which i promise is sooo dodgey, dont recommend that u go there!! we had breakfast at a little restuarant and am not sure who paid for that as none of us did!! was a lot of waiting around whilst samuel tried to negotiate us a guide (yea he agreed to take us there but has never been there before, ¡¡idiota!!) whilst this was happening we witness a true ecuadorian fight over a car parking space lol was rather amusing!!
Im gunna finish the rest of this on another blog as it is another area!!
