Hola chicos!
Have been here for just about 2 weeks so I guess its time to write something! Well, this place really is f***en awesome. It's very small but its got character, no more than 12000 people and some tourists still around, that's it! In a month there will be Mia and the locals only! One main street, one set of lights and one long beach, but it feels quite big anyway. The location of my flat is perfect; 1 minute to the school, 1 minute to the beach and 2 minutes to the old town where most of the bars and restaurants are.. And surfers everywhere! Normal shops have been replaced with surf ones and even grandpas are wearing board shorts.. well its windy most of the time since we are in the straits of Gibraltar so wind and kite surf is pretty much what this place is all about… they are only allowed a small part of the beach soyou can barely see the sky for kites there.. :) There are about 15 different kite schools around so it won't be too hard to learn.. The plan is to do a 12 hour course and they say that you should be able to stand on the board after that, just a few hours here and there after school. Well considering the time I'm gonna spend here I'm gonna become a professional by December! But all the equipment seem very expensive so maybe not after all.. Quit my day job? (yeah if I had one :) maybe I should write something about that other course that I came here for? Yeah, but I got well excited when I realized how surfy this place is.. The course is alright, I'm learning something all the time because all I hear is spanish spanish spanish.. The teachers can't speak english so we try to communicate the best we can, I actually understand most of what they say now after two weeks (when they speak slooowly..)! It kinda helps and sometimes it's very f***en frustrating when she's trying to explain some grammar and I have to sort of guess what she's on about.. The other students are from everywhere and in all ages, but there are not many of us, maybe 40? It's good though, classes are small as well, in mine just me and three others.Have met some mad, some funky and some very chilled out people here but the thing is that most of them are here for 2 weeks, learn some spanish n surf, and then they go home. Apparently 14 weeks is a long long time and there are like 3 other students that are staying almost as long as me! So whats the result? Well since it's a holiday for them most nights are spent in pubs and the time after school (which finish at 1.30) on the beach. And I can't say no, but hey I'm not complaining.. Love it… :) Havent really taken any pics yet but I will.. Havent got a Spanish number either cause they are out of sim cards in town.. Manana manana.. :) Hope all you guys are well and if you feel like coming for a visit, this is the time! I have a flat!!!
Happy days and lots of luv..
