Hello,
Two things... if anyone looks at the accompanying maps, don`t coz i can never be bothered to do them! And 2nd I am actually in Chile now with Emma, but i am going to write about our trip in a few days. Just want to finish off writing about my remainder of my group tour first!
Ok then so after I last wrote I was still in the gorgeous Colonia! We had a gorgeous buffet on the roof of the hostel, looking out over the water. I had to free the danish girls from our room as Nahoo had accidently locked them in! It is such a good job I went back! I love Nahoo she is so funny! Its great too as whenever i am in a group of people, generally I am the ditzy one! But not when Nahoo`s around! At first I thought it was because of her poor english but i have the funny feeling she is like it anyway! Did i tell you that she asked me and Paula if it was normal for latin man to come up and kiss you? We said oh yeah on the cheek but apparently one time in Brazil when she got lost... again... a man just came up and kissed her right on the lips! Full snog! We told her that definatly wasnt normal! Then she got worried coz she has a boyfriend and thought it meant she had cheated! bless her! She is funny!
Anyway! Went to the local artists house for the party. It was lovely, all sat in a roof top garden, drinking Sangria, then we got told to go into the street as there friends were playing drums for us! It was ace, drums, a gymnast and a women juggling fire (with my skills I wanted a go!)... and loads of locals came and joined us! It was really nice of these people! The village... well what can i say??? funnyman turned up... I looked to myside to see a small man in makeup and dressed like a cross between hilda hogdan and widow twanky! He was just stood staring at me, very close, which was scary eniugh but then he smiled and just had one tooth in the middle and looked like that guy out of the goonies!!! Very odd! I went back upstairs!
Then the band came up and just sat around singing and playing bongos and guitar! Very chilling and cool! Really athentic evening without it been too planned and tour-ish!
Unfortunatly we left Colonia the next day and went to BA. The hotel here was shocking, like a prison cell, maybe worse! I had a wander around the town, went to see some Tango that night but it was quite quiet... gorg place though, a local place in a big warehouse...very Moulin Rouge!
The next day I went to a fantastic market and bought some bits and had a really long walk and saw the biggest tree i have ever seen! Diameter was longer than a swimming pool! Trunk thicker than a car! anyway...Then we were going to see the football which was amazing!Indipendiantes V Boca. The best live match i have ever been to!!! Although i do normally go and see Leeds so maybe thats why! Ha ha. But everyone else agreed the atmosphere was fab! And the chants sound so much nicer and more tuneful in spanish!
It was Boca V Indipendientes.
Boca is the biggest club in Arg. As our guide surported them we were meant to be going and sitting on there side, So i got ready in my Blue top... there colours, only to find out when we reached the ground that there had been a mix up with the tickets and we were on the other side! Arghhh! The reds...luckliy i had a vest top on underneath! But to be honest i was glad, i like supporting the less obvious under dogs! And Indi actually played fantastic in the first half and scored after ten mins... they had most possesion etc. But towards the end of the 1st half Boca scored twice in 30 seconds! How quickly things change.
The 2nd half was equal skill wise but then Boca got better. But in the last second... actually the last second Boca scored again to make it 3/1! Boo ! i was actually gutted! The match had to be stopped half way through as a fan threw something at a boca player. It was that scary though, loads of police. But they were throwing firworks that i didnt like. Brilliant though! Indipendientes are my new favourite team!!!
Then that night I went out for the Last supper with my gap tour group. I was ready to move on though but have made some cool friends. Got on really well with Catherine, Nahoo, Peter and Torben especially. But the Danish girls were lovely too. But was feeling abit hemmed in by the restraints of been in a group, ready to meet Emma and do what we wanted when we wanted. The meal was nice in a very fancy restaurant but by the time we ate it was 00:30 so we were all abit past hunger! But it was fab (Richard Dugan you would have loved it!) They had individual counters and you could just go to the fish counter tell them what spices etc you wanted and watch them cook it, same with meats, pizzas, and they made all the pasta and sauce from scratch in front of you on loads of tiny hobs. But by far the dessert section was the nicest! They had Profiterole trees! Massive! And i had a crepe with dulce de Leche my new favourite thing!!! yum!
After that i went back for an early night as i was meeting Emma the next day! yippee!
So on my next update which i will hopefully do on Thurs or Fri when i am acclimatising to altitude in cusco, you will here the stories of what me and Emma got up to to bring us up to date in Chile! ´The Emma´s´as we are now known!
Take Care Love Emma.xxx.
