Evey's World trip!
Hello!!
Well I'm trying to be good and regularly update now!! Plus, there are so many beautiful things to see here that it would be impossible to do one big entry a week!
Ok, so from Auckland on Sunday we flew down to Christchurch where we stayed at a backpackers called Charlie B's. It was a really cute little hostel. The weirest thing happened again.... who do you think we bumped into yet again?? Yep you've got it our little Will! Its so crazy, thats the second time he's been in the same hostel as us now....and 3 different countries we've seen him in! However the hostel that night became home to about 50 teenage school girls!! At first we were like "great!! they won't be annoying at all!!!' Butv we were pleasantly suprise they turned out to be lovely and we had a good chat with some of them about NZ and played some monopoly,... after I reminded the guys around to curb their language!
Christchurch is a really beautiful little city, its quite English really in the way it looks and has a gorgeous catherdral, its a shame we only had one night there but i don't think there is much to do there anyway. The next day we picked up our hire car, a trendy little Nissan Pulsar!! Think Nissan Sunny!! Still, its a pretty good car to drive and its automatic which helps as all the roads are so long and windy in New Zealand. It takes hours to get to places which look really close on the map as there are no major motorways really and alot of the driving in the south island is very mountainous.
We drove down from Christchurch to Queenstown on the Monday, it was the most beautiful 7 hour drive!! It actually didn't feel that long because the scenary was so breathtaking. The photo on this page is of Lake Tekapo which we stopped off at on the way. It was huge and just the bluest lake I've ever seen. Often we could drive for about an hour without seeing any other cars... just a few sheep and passing by alot of roadkill much to Danni's dismay! I must say she did an excellent job of navigating as we didn't get lost once in the whole 7 hour drive!!!! Yes.... not once.... of course my brothers won't believe that or many of my friends... but its true... didn't get lost once or crash!! Or lose a wheel trim! True I did nearly crash into a huge lorry, but i was in a weird passing lane and how was i supposed to know it was about to end!! Still he gave me what I think was a nice New Zealand traditional salute and a bit of a toot so I take it he wasn't overly bothered and actually thought we were quite charming! Luckily a few days into driving over here I am a natural on the roads now... so much so i think i could become a citizen!
Anyway... here we are in Queenstown staying at a cute little place called PineWood Lodge. Its kind of like a little ski lodge with chalet's and everything. Its not really like a hostel at all, and it helps that we are surrounded by beautiful mountains! Copy and paste this link to see what i mean

Seriously I think I'm running out of adjectives to use for places as Queenstown, much like the rest of the places I've visited is just beautiful, its a quaint little town... again surrounded by mountains. It kind of reminds me of Austria but on a more vast scale. Today we went up in a cable car to get a better view of the surrounding area..........even more amazing! New Zealand just gets better and better. I also did something called 'Luging' on the way down half of the mountain... its kind of little Go Kart... it was so much fun and really speedy! Don't worry mum I will be coming back in one piece... I was wearing a helmet!
Tomorrow we are going on a drive to visit some of the places where lord of the rings was filmed, as Danni is a big fan of the films!
Think we're gonna hit the town tonight as its supposed to be a really good night out here.... we're going to a minus 5 bar where everything is made of ice!! You get special suits to wear and can only stay for 30 minutes!
Anyway... its tea time... we're having potato bake so i better get going!!!
Take care guys!!
Much love,
Evey xxx
