First rain of our trip ...just created more magical views along the coastal rainforests. After an awesome Salmon Chowder for brunch we meandered along toFox Glacier, stopping at all the viewpoints along the way, admiring the rugged coastline strewn with miles and miles of bleached driftwood ...looked like miles of bleached bones. Census day in New Zealand and we are being counted here ! Intersting, as we were missed in our own census. The fortitude and hardships endured by the pioneers, gold-diggers and their wives came to the fore again in visiting Arrowtown, a historic goldrush settlement. Couldn't miss the excitement of the AJ Hackett Bungy Bridge, the first commercial bungy venture. Was fun to watch and the viewing platforms are great. Adventure Day in Queenstown Making sure that your inner child continues to play is seriously easy in this town. A gondola ride to the top of the mountain overlooking Queenstown starts the fun. Just when we thought the scenery could not get more dramatic, we were left breathless on entering Lord of the Rings country, expecting Hobbits and Goblins to appear around every corner. Mirror lakes, gushing rivers and waterfalls and just massive peaks and carved valleys ....120kms of shear marvel on the road from TeAnau to Milford Sound. And how lucky are we...no rain.
