London, UK
Arrived in London around 6 o'clock AM about an hour or so before the rest of Northeastern students. Virgin Airlines is the way to get go. I would highly recommend it as they got these TVs that are completely customizable - you can watch selected movies, shows, London reviews while starting, stopping and rewinding at your discretion. I was seated in the emergency exit row so combining my extra leg room, electronic control and free drinks was the perfect start to the trip. I did however get hit with a $50 dollar over weight charge for my suitcase. I did try to keep the packing under-control but some things are just not meant to be.
After the group arrived, we started brainstorming on the most efficient way to get to the dorm. This was simply entertainment. We spent 45 minutes getting a ticket for the tube and finally upon arriving at 178 High Holborn we were informed that check in is not until 2:00 PM. Keep in mind, we have all basically been up for 36 hours. So after a few hours wondered around, trying to get familiar with the area we embarked on our first adventure. Breakfast would be nice and so would AC. Some of us went to a breakfast cafe with signs that said "AC INSIDE". Perfect right - unfortunately one of the waitresses was sick so they thought it would be a good idea to turn it off. Personally, I was fine but some people like complaining. 2:00 finally came to check in and after that registration for classes with a line of way too long. LSE Summer School has over 3000 students from all over the world so it was pretty crowded. I expect it to be a great experience as I am able to meet people of such different backgrounds. I truly believe this will be an enriching experience most personally and academically.
They had a welcome session in the basement of the dorm (which is conveniently situated with a bar) but after a hour or two of that I passed out early. Lecture in the afternoon from 2-5 and a small computer lab from 10-11.
"By seeing London, I have seen as much of life as the world can show" - Samuel Johnson - I am very much looking forward to this coming true.
