Today was our first day in Holland. Our first stop was a cheese farm and clog maker's house. A girl in traditional clothing met us at the front and explained to us how the wheels of cheese are made. After that we walked through into the second room where we were given a demonstration of how clogs are hand crafted. We were then given time to walk around, purchase any goods we wanted and sample the different types of cheese. That was my favourite part. I love cheese! I found some old Dutch cheese so bought myself a block of that, as well as some souvineers for family back home. We also had a couple of quick snapshots in the giant clog, outside of the shop. After the cheese farm we picked up some bikes in Edam and went for a bike ride as a group. I was a bit nervous as its been a while since I've ridden a bike. Amy stayed behind because she couldn't ride a bike. We all had a bit of a laugh, but it was a lot of fun. Most of the bikes had back brakes which was a bit confusing for some people at first. I crashed my bike into the curb just before we arrived at the windmill. I was looking behind at Chip and Rach and rode straight into the curb. I'm classy like that! I didn't fall off though so it was okay. We all had a group photo in front of the windmill and then rode our bikes back to the shop. We had to put our own bikes back in the shed. Apparently this challenged some people in our group because a couple of the rows of bikes were knocked over. I couldn't stop laughing and took a couple of photos. I think it was one of the other kiwi girls too. We had dinner at the hotel and then headed out to an optional sex show. Everyone in the group came, except two people. One of the guys wasn't feeling well and I'm not sure who the other person was. I was a bit naiive at first as I didn't realise they actually had sex on stage! Our tour manager assured us that it was all consentual and that they were all couples who chose to do this for an income. Both the sex show and walking through the red light district were a bit of an eye opener! A lot of the girls are very attractive, but a few of them seriously need to be fed a pie or two! After the show everyone wanted to visit the famous Grass Hopper. The Grass Hopper has three levels. The bottom level is a coffee shop, the second level is a pub and I think the third level had a steakhouse type thing inside. So I suppose you could say there was something for everyone. Amsterdam really is a world of its own! I had a couple of drinks and then we headed home around midnight. Tomorrow is our last day on tour. In some ways it feels like we have been on tour for forever, but at the same time it feels like it has come to an end too quickly. I'm going to really miss everyone!!
